OMR uses a hardware scanner to accomplish the task that reflects the light on the paper. You can process thousands of documents per hour with OMR.
OCR
Optical character recognition (OCR) involves reading typewritten, computer-printed, or handprinted characters from ordinary documents and translating the images into a form the computer can process. Most OCR devices include a small optical scanner for reading characters and sophisticated software to analyze what is read. OCR devices range from large machines that can read thousands of documents per minute to handheld wands that read one document at a time.
Many companies use OCR characters on turnaround documents. A turnaround document is a document that you return (turn around) to the company that creates and sends it. For example, when con sumers receive a bill, they often tear off a portion of the bill and send it back to the company with their payment. The portion of the bill they return usually has their payment amount, account number, and other information printed in OCR characters.
